Fifth International Conference onMATERIALS STRUCTURE & MICROMECHANICS OF FRACTURE | ||||||
MSMF-5 in Brno, Czech Republic June 27 - 29, 2007 |
|
|||||
Under the auspices of Prof. Karel Rais, rector of the Brno University of
Technology
Organised by Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of
Technology: Institute of Physical Engineering, Institute of Materials Science and Engineering
Sponsored by the Czech Society for New Materials and Technologies (CSNMT)
Approved by the Europen Structure Integrity Society (ESIS)
SCOPE
MSMF-5 will be focused on fundamental relations between structural and mechanical characteristics of materials. Papers dealing with a multiscale approach are particularly welcome. Micromechanisms in fracture and fatigue will be discussed within the frame of a special symposium organised by the related ESIS Technical Committee (TC2).

ABSTRACT BOOKLET AND CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
Abstract Booklet containing camera-ready extended abstracts of all accepted contributions will be available at the beginning of the conference. A special issue of the scientific journal "Materials Science Forum" devoted to the MSMF-5 will appear in the begining of the year 2008. Moreover, a production of a special issue of the journal "Strength of Materials" published by Springer is under negotiations. Papers for both these issues will undergo a peer-review procedure. The reviewers will recommend the categorization of papers to the respective special issue. A final decision about the structure of both special issues will be met by an agreement between designated guest editors P. Šandera (MSF) and J. Pokluda (SoM).

VENUE
MSMF-5 will take place at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology, Technická 2, Brno-Žabovřesky, Czech Republic. Brno lies in the central part of Europe, in the Czech Republic; it is the second largest city in the coutry (nearly 400 000 inhabitants). It is the centre of the province of Moravia, one of the historic lands of the Czech Crown. Brno is situated in a picturesque countryside (190 - 425 m above sea level), surrounded on three sides by wooded hills and opening to the Southern Moravian lowlands. Geographically, Brno is part of the Danube Basin and has many historical ties to the Austrian capital Vienna, which lies a mere 110 km to the south. Brno enjoys a very pleasant, moderate climate, ideal for recreation and everyday living.
TRANSPORT
Brno occupies a strategic location in the contemporary European transportation
network.
Road Network
